TikTok Loves Retro
TikTok Loves Retro
The brand-new social media app overtaking the world right now loves the old and makes it new. You don’t believe me? Well go down your feed and tell me you do not see a recurring theme. We all love the dancing, funny skits, and the talent that comes from TikTok but as a 22-year-old I sometimes feel a little nostalgic and to be honest a bit old when I see the themes being used in these one minutes videos. Take for example the popular children show The Backyardigans, a television show that came out October 11, 2004 has two very popular song one being “Into the thick of it” and “International super spy”. While the skits and videos are new these songs are not but have brought back thanks to Gen Z’s love of retro, when you really think about its Gen Z’s love of the old and reaction that bring back the memories of what we loved as kids. Anybody remember “Madagascar” a movie that came out on May 27 2005, well I think we all loved the song as kids “I like to move it” when it first came as but forgot about. Now there is a popular dance to the song and has been taking the app by storm. When it comes to the creative way of remaking these songs and dance Gen Z and those on TicTok have no limits and it only gets better there. For those on TicTok bring the old back its like a digital time capsule of the old the song, dance or theme taking place, the more those before Gen Z start to uses these theme you really see how old thing were.
