How does productivity relate to days of the week? Some people think their favorite day of the week is Friday because that is the day before the weekend. You must not like your weekday thing very much if Friday is the day you live for. On Friday you can say ‘Hey the weekend’s coming yeah let’s go the weekend – relief from the week. So what does that mean? It means your weekends are probably fine but it also means that your Monday through Friday, that stuff you have to do to put bread on the table, so to speak, is not enjoyable. Let’s look at productivity from that perspective.

What is the most productive day of the week? Let’s analyze them one by one. Monday – you had the weekend off. It’s basically a rush, it’s a catch up; maybe you did some stuff on Saturday and Sunday was a day off for most people, and Monday is just crazy catch up day. You can never get your head straight until nearly the end of Monday sometimes.

Monday Productivity

Tuesday – the Monday rush is over and this is considered by some to be a very productive day. I don’t think it’s the most but Tuesday is certainly a lot more productive than Monday because on Monday you’re putting out fires and catching up and all of that so Tuesday can be fairly productive. I’ve done some really good stuff on Tuesdays.

Let’s get into Wednesday. I personally feel that Wednesday is the most productive day of the week. It’s the best of the bunch, the weekend is gone, long gone, and is still pretty far off, and you are pretty much in a groove. Monday was rush Tuesday was the day after the rush so you can slow down a bit and get more productive but Wednesday is the most productive day and you are in your weekly groove. You’re in a mid week groove, is a better way to say that. Productivity!

Thursday you’re still on that Wednesday groove thing but by after lunch or so on Thursday you’re thinking; Hey tomorrow’s Friday and that’s all you’re thinking about is; Friday is tomorrow then the weekend so Thursday is still pretty productive generally but not quite so much as Wednesday. I would say that Tuesday and Thursday about the same regarding productivity.

Friday. Well, maybe Friday morning you’re doing OK but by the time we get to lunchtime on Friday like 10 or 11:00 AM maybe noon it’s like: OK the weekend’s coming and I’m just not going to do anything the rest of the day! Although.. there are people that go wack and get very productive on Friday. It all depends on how you feel personally. For me Wednesday is the most productive day of the week  and that would be assuming that I didn’t like my Monday through Friday but..

I very much enjoy my Monday through Friday! Every day is a productive day.. and that would include Saturday and even Sunday sometimes. Sunday I consider a family kind of day and it can be somewhat productive business wise, but you need to take time for your family too so Sunday is the day for family. In a general sense; late Saturday afternoon kind of starts the ‘Family’ idea. Saturday can be very productive, and for some is their best day.

That’s my analysis of what the most productive day of the week is. How do you feel about Productivity based on a certain day of the week? What is your best, or favorite, day of the week?

Is there a cure for covid 19 Thu, 23 Apr 2020 13:07:54 +0000

How are you? Are you feeling okay today? Is there a cure for covid 19? Is there a Light on the Other Side? The answer to that could depend on whatever the news of the day is or whatever day you are consuming this. This article is designed to invoke reflection. These words are being written on March 22nd, 2020, a Sunday afternoon around 5:00 PM Eastern time in very Upstate New York. The Sun is out and it is a relatively cool day, bit of wind. It’s basically a mid thirties feel today even though it is by the calendar Springtime, and I hope everything’s okay with you. I just wanted to put some thoughts down here while I talk about what’s going on in the world, the Corona virus. I don’t want to get into any specific numbers or masks or any, any, any numbers or anything that relates to a specific time. Just a feeling. Is there a cure for covid 19?

Is there a cure for covid 19?

It’s a strange feeling in the world now. When I go outside, I mean for the most part things look normal, but when you go into restaurants and there’s nobody there, just somebody, somebody’s taking takeout orders and setting up for deliveries and things like that. Kids home from school, car dealerships not having employees there. Just the service departments, the other people working from home. Generally everybody working from home, virtually working from home. Now that is going to just, I think, continue. It’s going to continue after the Corona virus has been subsided and is basically gone. Which when will that be? Who knows? We can’t really, we can’t put dates on it but what I’m saying is this work from home thing that is happening a lot. The uh, social distancing or you might call it physical distancing and social connection if you want to put a different a term on the whole thing, but really the same thing, says you’ve got to stay apart six feet apart, at least wash your hands frequently and just, just do that. The work from home is going to continue and I think it’s going to continue well beyond the end of the Corona because the people that are doing it now because they are mandated to or they don’t work. Is there a cure for covid 19?

Essentially we’ll say, Hey this is not such a bad thing and we’re going to continue to do it or I want to continue to do it now. What will that make for the future? Well, there are to be a lot of people that will just insist on that with their jobs. Now there are manufacturing jobs and a lot of, you know, labor type positions that just can’t be done from home. You can’t stock a warehouse from your bedroom essentially, so you’ve got to go to work to do that. But the people that can work from home, myself included, will be doing that white a lot more than we have been. And I think it’s not such a bad thing. And I’m hearing reports, uh, well, what about jobs or jobs going to be lost because of this? Yes. There are some businesses that are not going to come out of this. Is there a cure for covid 19?

Well, yes, the President wants to do an economic stimulus package and send checks to people and yes, that’ll help. But we’ll see how far it really goes because we’re going to come out of this on the other side. It’s a positive mindset that is required for this is easy to get gloom and doom. Now I frequent LinkedIn, the social media platform more than the rest of them actually. So much positivity on there. And so many people willing to just help you and provide guidance, free information about what they know, expertise in business. There are some businesses that are, are apparently doing well with this, uh, within the whole thing. There is a Light on the Other Side. Is there a cure for covid 19?

Social Media

If your business is one of those that’s on hold right now, you should get prepared for when things get back to normal and basically hit the ground running. And what I am doing and I see a lot of people doing is maintaining your presence on social media. That includes LinkedIn, Facebook business, Instagram, Twitter, even Twitter does have some uses. TikTok. I love TikTok! The Daily Walk for Coffee. The thing that I do on an almost daily basis has gained some traction on TikTok and it seems to be doing all right, but, Is there a cure for covid 19?

So many companies I see out there and once I have approached honestly their social media isn’t what they want it to be or maybe they want it like it is, I don’t know. But it just seems like the things they post get in two or maybe three likes and maybe a comment once in a while and generally just post, post, post with no real reaction. It seems like an endless thing. I am certainly looking forward to the end of the Corona virus scare. Well, it’s a scare because a lot of people don’t know if the person standing next to them outside has it, which is why they limited the gatherings. There is a Light on the Other Side. Is there a cure for covid 19?

Do you own a small business? This might be a way to save some $$ on advertising when we get past this.

More Jobs or Less Jobs?

It’s a rough situation and in a lot of cases, so just take all the precautions necessary and we likely will come out of this pandemic with more people basically still doing social distancing, working from home and that can be good in some ways, bad and others less jobs. I was saying earlier possibly, but I have this feeling that a new jobs will spring up because of the need and the desire for higher and better technology to do all of this teleconferencing maybe a, it’s a good thing. Well, whether it’s a good thing or not, what’s going to happen at the end of this pandemic is that more and more people will be working from home. As of right now, the only people that have essential jobs, media, automotive repair, any kind of medical related stuff, hospitals, law enforcement, firefighters, those such things, essential, you’re still going to work still doing your thing and putting yourself on the front line of this, of this whole thing. Is there a cure for covid 19?

While the rest of us are told to stay home in our non-essential capacity, work from home will become the new norm. On the day of this recording, I just came from a restaurant. Uh, that only does, in fact, all restaurants are doing takeout and delivery only. You can’t go in and sit down and have a meal right now. So I am supporting small business. Third day in a row. We’ve done that from this house. The chains will survive the bigger chains. It has been my point in my desire and my push to support small business owners, small business owners who will likely suffer a bit and they’ve had to lay off employees and they’re getting unemployment, I suppose, but not the same as a actually going to work, having a job and feeling good about it. I do appreciate you hanging out with me and supporting Chris Jones Media. There will be more on this. There is a Light on the Other Side, but I am not sure the answer to ‘is there a cure for covid 19’ will come anytime soon.

How do I Voice my own ad? Mon, 20 Apr 2020 14:46:03 +0000

Business Owner – You could ask, ‘How Do I Voice my own Ad?’ What? Why are you writing this Chris? There is a good chance that with some effort, your own voice can be put to use on an ad for your business. The way I see it, You are the business owner! Who better than you to convey your company message? There are three major elements that come into play. I explain in the Podcast below this text. It is not as difficult as it might seem.

The Three Major elements for recording your own ad.

  1. Know your product – this seems obvious, but still it needs to be said. There are some who actually do not know the product they selling.
  2. Articulate. not everyone is a voice talent or a voice actor, but if you make a an effort to correctly pronounce every word, you’ll do well.
  3. That ties in with how you deliver your message. Instead of using ‘hype’ and sounding phony, just be conversational, like you are talking to your neighbor over the fence. People/Clients will love that!

Voice Equipment

Many phones and tablets can give a pretty good audio experience. You maybe then can bring the audio file to an ad agency and say, ‘Hey – my voice is on my phone, and I’d like to use it for my ad.’ An Ad Agency may suggest recording it in a studio, but you can take it from there. So, How do I voice my own ad? Follow the three steps outlined, and you will have something.

When finished, be sure to listen intently to the message that people will hear. Make sure it is accurate and riveting. Here’s an article about what to do if you do not like your message.

If you are just starting to consider advertising, please read this. It will help.

Are Your Business Ads Working? Sat, 18 Apr 2020 14:38:12 +0000

Recently you heard a commercial on TV or radio that you actually were paying some attention to. You may not have consciously thought this but in the back of your mind the message was uninspiring or just plain dull. Think about the reputation a business has with a bad message like that. The message the business wants to convey may not get across because of a weak or uninspiring voice, and an impression will not be left with you or anyone else. That business owner has wasted money on that ad.

A strong, conversational voice may be needed to convey a message that will leave an impression on a viewer or listener! You could apply this same concept to narration services. Nothing is worse than trying to listen to a presentation with a weak, uninspiring voice. Make sure the message a potential customer hears is strong, authoritative, and inspiring! Otherwise, little or no results will come of your ad spend.

Think back to the reputation of the business you heard that just didn’t sound good, even if they had the best visuals in the world – 4K visuals – high-definition everything and it was just a fantastic production, but the voice was awful to put it mildly – the business will be perceived as unprofessional. The video will mean nothing without a strong voice. If that’s your business, of course that’s a bad thing. People will think you do not care about your business if they hear a message like that, even if visuals are top-notch. Trust Me, I have seen and heard commercials like that. Not Pretty.

Here is a similar but slightly different take on this. Perhaps you like your own voice and want to use it. See This!

Who has the Right Voice Wed, 15 Apr 2020 14:25:48 +0000

Who has the right Voice for your Message? Someone with Passion! From Your viewpoint, you need a voice that will carry the true essence of what your business stands for, a conversational, caring voice, the right voice. There is such a person. The Reason I do Social Media Marketing as a Male Voice Over Talent, Videographer, and Photographer with Video Production and equally important Website skills is simple. It is a Passion, a Passion that grew out of a love for Radio from a young age.

Your greatness depends on your clients’ perception, and that begins with your awesome customer service. Your Customer Service is enhanced greatly by your advertising messages, both audio and visual, be it through traditional outlets or Social Media. Those messages begin with a conversation, which is where I can gain insight into your personal aspirations and core values. This is essential for me to understand how you want to convey a message to potential clients and customers. Our initial meeting is where this happens, and also where you discover the solution to your advertising needs, your quest for the right voice.

This Love for Radio translated into sales for a while and came into a new light in early 2019 when I began accepting clients in need of a new ‘Voice’ for Social Media and website advertising. I cannot express in words how it feels to pursue a passion. In addition and as another passion, I run an Internet Radio station, and the Return on Investment on that is improving monthly.

The Right Voice

You get a Business to Business Male Voice Over professional specializing in voicing as well as producing your advertising message for the Internet. This could be for a Social Media campaign or your new (or current) website. You will witness, from start to finish, an entire audio/visual experience. This is an absolute passion, as well as a full time labor of love that has me as a member of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce. Who has the right Voice? It starts with you and I having a conversation. 518-223-6044.

Listen to your Business Message Fri, 10 Apr 2020 14:14:45 +0000

Think about the last time you heard a commercial on TV or even radio for a business and you thought, ‘that sounds kind of dull’, or ‘I don’t like the way that sounded’. Maybe you do not consciously say that, but you certainly think it. Think about the reputation of that business. If the message they are trying to convey just isn’t getting across, the reason is likely a weak or uninspiring voice. The video below illustrates messages I have actually heard.

If you hear this or something just as uninspiring, you will not care. You will not want to go to the business or want to partake in their services because you see them as unprofessional. The weak voice makes a bad impression. A good strong voice is needed, someone to voice the message, a message that leaves an impression on a viewer or a listener. That’s where I come in.

My voice. I am taking pride in it and telling you that I know I can make your business stand out and give you a solid, strong message. Just think about the reputation of the business you heard that did not sound so good. You think they must not care about what they sound like or look like. If that is your business contact me and I will fix it for you. If it’s something I can help you with, I would love to do it. I will certainly will make you sound good and look good as well.

When we come out out of coronavirus era, you need to be on top of your game. I can get you there.

Should I be Advertising on Social Media? Mon, 06 Apr 2020 13:27:05 +0000

Business Owner – Thinking of Advertising on Social Media? Profits were up last quarter, and your customer service reputation is unbeatable within your space. Your Family sees how happy you are, and things are going well. You feel, however, that more is out there for you. You have been approached by radio stations promising that advertising with them is better than using newspapers or television. While there is some truth to that, your recently started Social Media pages occupy your thoughts.

Social Media Advertising

The engagement on the posts you put up is not good. You sometimes feel it is not worth it to keep posting on Social Media. You are considering advertising on Social Media, and while scrolling LinkedIn one day you see this..

VoiceOver. He also does Video. The reviews look compelling and he is certainly happy, and you need to convey a message for your business that exudes positivity and true sincerity.

As a Business owner, you need, especially with the way economy is now due to the virus, an inexpensive way to get the word out and essentially ‘Rise Above The Noise’, to quote David Brier.

While I’ve been using voice for 40+ years to solve problems and help people, the idea of adding video to my professional skill set made perfect sense. The original idea was to produce audio with my experienced radio voice and use someone else’s video, but that idea very quickly turned into utilization of video editing software, and being a ‘one stop shop’.  It has done well, judging by Google and Facebook reviews. I had been editing videos for the video game industry for a while, but decided not to pursue that full time.

I wrote an article about actually doing your own voiceover which provides a different take on the advertising idea. Also, be sure to listen carefully to the final message when it is ready. Here’s more on that idea..

When we come out of the CoronaVirus era, as we will, YOU will be right there!

Audio or Video Sat, 04 Apr 2020 00:23:54 +0000

I am often asked, and I often speculate, on which is more captivating – Audio or Video. It certainly is a video world these days. This Forbes article from 2018 talks about 80% of Internet traffic consuming video content, despite the cost of creating said quality video content. I thoroughly enjoy shooting, editing, and creating video content – my Social Media is proof of that. (links below). Audio or Video?

Enter Audio. I might be biased here as I started my media adventures as an Audio guy – specifically, Radio. From 1979 to about 1993 I was in radio broadcasting, mostly as an announcer/disc jockey – playing the tunes and reading the news. These days, I find it easier, as most content creators would, to produce quality audio than to produce video.

Audio or Video

This is why I bill myself as a Voiceover guy, as opposed to a Video or Media Company. As of this post I release a new podcast every Wednesday. Many podcasters will record a video of their podcast, but the video is considered secondary to the superb audio quality. Gary Vaynerchuk comes to mind with this idea. What he says, as in the audio portion, is significantly more important than the video aspect. On that note I find it much more relaxing to NOT have a video aspect to a podcast, because I am not concerned with how it looks, just how it sounds. Audio or Video?

Back to Gary Vee for a second. He is saying that Voice will become more significant with regard to branding. When you ask Alexa to find a plumber, who Alexa picks as the plumber for you will depend upon branding. Branding is another whole topic, but the idea is that it will be done with voice, not video.

With regard to Podcasting, this article talks about increased audio engagement due to said Podcasting. Certainly it is easier to consume Audio while you doing other things; like housework, auto repair, working out, etc.. Video requires you look at a screen. With Audio, you can paint a picture in a person’s mind, rather than have a picture shown, which I feel leaves less to the imagination.

In Conclusion..

Audio or Video? All this being said which I do prefer? Both have advantages and disadvantages. I enjoy the relaxing aspect of audio only, but also enjoy creating a story with video. Being a radio guy at the start I have to lean a bit towards Audio only, but only a tiny bit.
